A
little about me ...
I was born
in Atlanta, GA in 1953, and grew up in Birmingham, AL / Ft.
Lauderdale, FL / Bethlehem, PA and Mentor, OH.
I dropped
out of school at the end of my junior year in high school
and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 (you could in those
days). I was rated an Electronics Engineering Tech. After
the Navy, I traveled a bit, then settled in Bowling Green,
OH working for several years as a machinist. I obtained a
B.Ed and M.Ed from Bowling
Green State University. and after college taught electronics
for 5 years at a local college while running a side business
writing custom software for a variety of applications in
education and industry (those were the days of the TRS80
and Apple II computers).
I
live in Bowling Green, Ohio USA with my wife Wendy. She
is an beautiful English woman I met in Lausanne, Switzerland
in 1973 while on my
way to Kabul, Afghanistan (long story) and who, perhaps
due to a temporary lapse in her normally good judgment, said
"I do" to me in 1974. We have three sons Stephen,
Philip and Gregory -- all very fine young men and a great
blessing to us. Stephen is married to Brittan nee Shaffer
and lives nearby, Philip is currently serving in the Navy
and Gregory is in college.
I have
spend the last 20 and some odd years (and some have been
very odd!) working in the printing industry. From 1984-1994
I was IT Director for Century
Marketing. My current position
is Technical Director for NovaVision,
a security printing company which I helped found in 1984.
Part of my work
there involves
designing holograms (like those in the corner of
your VISA and MasterCard) and anti-counterfeiting print
features, and the rest is something like electromechanical
engineering with a sprinkling of IT responsibilities tossed
in.
It
may seem from the list of interests represented by the
navigation buttons that I am "desperately in search
of a hobby!", but somehow (at least in my mind) they're
all interrelated. I also love the blues and play guitar
and "harp". I golf (just well enough not to sell
my clubs) and paint on occasion (mainly watercolors).
I am
trying to live according to the life, example and
teachings of Jesus Christ to whom I owe my life. I am
forever grateful, and forever indebted to God for His great
gift of grace and love.
I suppose
this might have been a good place to include a picture
of myself ... but some of you may have dogs and small children
who frighten easily. Hope you find my site and its contents interesting
if not useful.
