Ship Modeling:

I have always been fascinated by model ships. In the course of my travels I have had the opportunity to visit the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, VA and the British National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England. Both have really excellent collections of model ships. These are more than "models", they are miniature works of art.

As well as being fascinated, I have also always wanted to try my hand at making a serious wooden ship model. I started out simple with my first attempt making a dingy. It's about 8 inches in length. I am currently working on a model of the HMS Victory, Admiral Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar. This is a long term project. I figure it will take me perhaps 5 years to finish. I plan on taking some photos of my progress and posting them here but I haven't yet. I am working on the stern at the moment.

Until I get some shots of the Victory together here's a few shots of the dingy.
